The services of metro rail will be closed for two days from Thursday, said officials of the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited.

Bangladesh will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the biggest religious festivals of Muslims, across the country, on Thursday.

As per an earlier announcement of the DMTCL, the implementing agency of the metro rail, the metro rail services will be closed on the eid day.

Following this, metro rail services will also be closed on Friday (April 12) as it is the services' weekly holiday.

The DMTCL secretary Mohammad Abdur Rouf confirmed the news.

Meanwhile, the authorities said that the trains would continue to run for an extra hour after the two-day eid holiday.

The trains had begun to run for an extra hour in the evening since Ramadan 16.

Since Ramadan 16, the last train from Motijheel station left at 9:40pm and the last train from Uttara station left at 9:20pm to facilitate the people during Ramadan.

Before this, usually, the last train from Motijheel station left at 8:40pm and the last train from Uttara station would leave at 8:20pm.

On March 10, DMTCL managing director MAN Siddique at a press briefing had said that the schedule of the services would become as usual when Ramadan would be concluded.

DMTCL deputy project director Tarafder Mahmudur Rahman, however, told 抖阴精品 on Wednesday that the extended time would continue as per the directive of the managing director.

The country鈥檚 first-ever electricity-powered elevated and air-conditioned rail system is in operation now on the 20.1km Uttara-Motijheel route every day, except Fridays.

Prime minister Sheikh Hasina launched the metro rail services on the Uttara鈥揂gargaon section on December 28, 2022, and then on November 4, 2023 she inaugurated the service on the entire Motijheel鈥揢ttara section.
