Five people, including four of a family, were killed in a fatal road accident on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Madhabpur upazila in Habiganj in the early hours on Thursday.
The deceased were Md Jamal, 40, son of Mouj Ali of Boalia village at Golachipa upazila in Patuakhali, his wife Kamrun Nahar, 35, son Md Ananta, 12, and his brother Md Enamul and the private car driver Harun Bepari, 34, son of Yunus Bepari of Bharpasha village at Bakerganj upazila in Barishal, police said.
Local residents said that a Sylhet-bound truck collided head-on with a Dhaka-heading private car on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Haritala area of the Madhabpur upazila at around 2:00am.
The private car was crushed after being hit by the speeding truck and 5 passengers of the car, including its driver and a woman and her minor son, died on the spot, they said.
Shayestaganj highway police officer-in-charge Badrul Karim confirmed 抖阴精品 of the deadly accident and the consequent deaths.
He said that they rushed to the spot and sent the dead bodies to Habiganj Sadar Adhunik Hospital for postmortem examination.聽
Quoting the relatives of the victims, He said that they lived in a rented house at Savar in Dhaka and worked in a garment factory there.
The victims were returning to Dhaka after visiting the shrines of Hazrat Shahjalal (R) and Hazrat Shah Paran (R) in Sylhet, the police officer said.
He said that the truck and private car were seized from the spot but the driver of the truck and his assistant fled the scene immediately after the accident.
