Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s detective branch chief Harun-or-Rashid on Thursday said that the initial plans to kill Jhenaidah-4 lawmaker Anwarul Azim Anar were made in two houses located in Gulshan and Bashundhara in Bangladesh capital Dhaka, two to three months ago.
He disclosed the information at a press briefing at the DB office in Dhaka Thursday afternoon.
He also said that the original plan was to carry out the murder in Dhaka.
‘However, the perpetrators decided to commit the crime in Kolkata due to the extensive surveillance by the Bangladesh police,’ he said.
Harun-or-Rashid said that the police were working to recover Anar’s body.
He said that the killers tried to hide the body in such a way that no trace could be found and different parts of the body were sent to different places in different trolleys.
‘The Kolkata and Bangladesh police are working jointly on this case. If not the entire body, hopefully, some parts will be recovered,’ he said.
He said that, according to the plan, the mastermind of the murder Shimul Bhuiyan, his accomplice Tanveer Bhuiyan and Shilasti Rahman went to Kolkata on April 30.
Harun revealed that Shimul Bhuiyan went there with a new passport in the name of Amanullah Aman.
He said, ‘The mastermind of this murder and the victim were friends. We are looking into whether there were any business dealings between them.’
