At least two people were killed in a road accident on Dhaka-Tangail-Bangbabandhu Bridge Highway at Pouli of Kalihati upazila in Tangail on early Saturday.
Identities of deceases could not be ascertained immediately.
Elenga Highway Police Station officer-in-charge Mir Mohammed Sajedur Rahman said that the accident took place as a Dhaka-bound covered van hit another Dhaka-bound lorry from behind and in the area, leaving the driver of the covered van and his assistant dead on the spot.
After the accident a five kilometer tail was created on the highway.
Police managed to resume traffic on the highway within a short period of time.
