
A man was killed and three others were critically injured when a train hit a battery-run three-wheeler in Raipara Syarpara area in Rajshahi city on Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Bishu, 65, a resident of Nabadanga area under Kashiadanga police station.
However, the identities of the injured could not be known immediately.
Emran Hossain, officer-in-charge of Kashidanga police station, told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that the accident left Bishu dead on the spot while three others were rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in a critical condition.
Asim Kumar Talukdar, general manager of western railway, told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that the accident took place when the Rajshah-bound commuter train hit the three-wheeler at Raipara Syarpara area at about 6:30pm.
‘The cattle guard of the railway engine for protection was detached in the accident, and we will change the engine before it leaves for Ishwardi,’ he said.
The rail official said that there was neither any gate nor gatemen as it was an unofficial rail crossing in the area.
