The Rapid Action Battalion arrested an Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army commander at the Rohingya camp at Ukhiya upazila in Cox鈥檚 Bazar on Friday morning.

Arrested Md Zakaria, 32, son of Ali Zohur, was a resident of Balokhali Camp No. 10, Block-F/17 in Ukhiya


The RAB also recovered a G-3 rifle and five rounds of fresh bullets from the spot.

The RAB said that the recovered G-3 rifle model was used by the law enforcement forces of Myanmar and the ARSA members brought the weapon to the camp from Myanmar.

RAB-15 commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel HM Sajjad Hossain at a press conference gave the information.

He said that being tipped off from its intelligence sources that some members of the terrorist group ARSA brought weapons from Myanmar to the Rohingya camp to carry out sabotage in the Camp No 10, the battalion conducted a special operation and nabbed Zakaria.

HM Sajjad added that during the initial interrogation Zakaria admitted that he participated in the killing missions in the Rohingya camp as an ARSA commander.

Zakaria was handed over to the Ukhiya police with an arms case filed against him, said the official.
