The Dhaka North City Corporation on Monday evening claimed that they had removed 100 per cent of the waste generated from sacrificial animals from all 54 wards, while the Dhaka South City Corporation cleaned those from 64 wards, out of its 75, within six hours.
In separate press releases on Monday, the city corporations announced that they cleaned these wards in six hours, starting from 2:00 pm on the day of Eid-ul-Azha, one of the largest religious festivals for Muslims.
The DNCC removed around 10,374 tonnes of animal wastes through 2,102 trips.
The DNCC mayor Atiqul Islam said, ‘The waste removal activity was completed within the preannounced six-hour timeframe because of the help of all concerned parties.’
He requested those who did not sacrifice their cattle on Monday to do so the following morning.
Meanwhile, the waste removal activities in DSCC wards of 01, 02, 04, 05, 07, 09, 10, 12, 13, 16, 17, 19-41, 43-59, 61, 63-66, and 68-75 were completed by 8:00 pm.
