A MADRASSAH teacher was arrested Saturday night for allegedly molesting a student at Azizul Ulum Qawmi Madrassah and Orphanage in Alamdanga upazila of Chuadanga.
The accused, Abdus Salam, 35, son of Amirul Islam from Onupnagar village in the upazila, is a teacher at the madrassah.
The incident came to light when the 11-year-old victim disclosed the abuse to his family on Saturday.
A case was subsequently filed with Alamdanga police station, according to officer-in-charge Sheikh Abdul Gani.
The case statement revealed that Abdus Salam took the victim to a nearby room and molested him. He threatened to kill the victim if he disclosed the abuse.
The harassment reportedly continued even before the student went home for the Eid holidays.
The victim鈥檚 reluctance to return to the madrassah after the holidays prompted his family to press for details, leading to the revelation of the abuse, said OC Abdul Gani.
Following the complaint, a police team arrested Abdus Salam and took him to Alamdanga police station for further investigation, the OC added.
