Law, justice and parliamentary affairs minister Anisul Huq said on Tuesday that the Appellate Division would decide on quota system based on all sides’ statements.

He made the remark while speaking to journalists at the Secretariat.

Anisul said, ‘I have heard that anti-quota protesters have applied to be a party in the case in the Appellate Division. The hearing will be tomorrow. In that case, I think they are on the right path.’

Replying to a question regarding the government’s stance, he said, ‘The prime minister has been very clear that the issue is now before the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court will decide listening to all sides, and will give a fair decision,’ he said.

Responding to the question of whether the court may be influenced by the government, the law minister said, ‘I won’t say anything about it because it’s a subjudice matter. As a law minister or from a legal perspective, I shouldn’t say much.’

‘Matters of court should be discussed in court, not on the streets. Today, I see they (the protesters) have taken a significant step going to the court. My statement ends here. The rest will be seen in the court,’ he added.
