
The government on Tuesday made major changes in the police at the senior level by withdrawing 24 district superintendents of police, giving new postings to two additional inspectors general of police and six deputy inspectors general of police.
In a separate move, the home ministry also sent three officials to forced retirement and reinstated jobs of five sacked officials.
The districts that got new SPs are Dhaka, Gazipur, Tangail, Manikganj, Munshiganj, Narayanganj, Narsingdi, Kishoreganj, Cumilla, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Sirajganj, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Gaibandha, Habiganj, Sylhet, Natore, Pabna, Patuakhali, Bagerhat, Jhenaidah, Magura and Jashore, Public Security Division of the ministry issued a notification, signed by the division’s deputy secretary Md Mahabur Rahman Sheikh, on Tuesday following an order of the president.
The outgoing SPs were mostly either attached to deputy inspector general range offices or in-service training centres.
In another separate order of the ministry, additional IGP AKM Hafiz Akter and deputy inspector general of police KH Mahid Uddin were transferred to Industrial Police and Tourist Police respectively.
DIG Munibur Rahman, who was posted as Dhaka Metropolitan Police additional commissioner for traffic was sent to Armed Police Battalion headquarters.
DMP deputy commissioner Faruk Ahmed (DIG supernumerary) was transferred to DMP as additional police commissioner while DIG Md Israfil Hawlader was transferred to the DMP as the additional commissioner.
DIGs Khondoker Nazmul Hasan, Md Masum Karim and Hasan Md Shawkat Ali were made additional police commissioners of the DMP.
Meanwhile, Police Headquarters additional inspector general of police Krishna Pada Roy, Khulna Metropolitan Police commissioner Mozammel Haque and Khulna Metropolitan Police additional commissioner Sarder Rakibul Islam were sent to forced retirement in three separate orders.
The move was taken for the sake of public interest, according to circulars issued on Tuesday signed by Public Security Division senior secretary Mohammad Abdul Momen.
In separate gazette notifications, the home ministry also reinstated jobs of five former officials– Criminal Investigation Department former SP Md Delowar Hossain Miah, Bangladesh Police Academy former DIG Md Abdullah AL Mahmud, Rajshahi Range DIG office former SP Md Ali Hossain Fakir, CID former SP Md Nazmul Karim Khan and Traffic and Driving School Dhaka former SP Md Zillur Rahman.
