
Six people, including two women, were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw near Vatshala Jorapump in Sherpur Sadar upazila Sunday noon.
The deceased are auto-rickshaw driver Lokman Hossain, 36, son of the late Abdus Samad of Kamaria Gunpara in Sadar upazila, Maysa Tasnim Mim, 26, and her brother Kamruzzaman, 23, offspring of Sahajahan Ali of Kingkarpur-Munshibazar in Nakla upazila, Mokhlesur Rahman, 78, and his wife Umme Kulsum, 60, of Alinapara area in Sadar upazila, and Nina Rani, 45, wife of Subash Chandra Biswas of West Chithlia area in the district.
The accident took place on the Sherpur-Mymensingh road at 12:00pm when a bus of ‘Rifat Paribahan’ collided head-on with the auto-rickshaw, leaving five three wheeler passengers dead on the spot and injuring another person, said Jubaidul Alam, officer-in-charge of Sherpur Sadar police station.
The injured was sent to a local hospital where he died to his injuries.
Police recovered the bodies and sent those to Sherpur Sadar Hospital morgue, the police officer added.
