The Bangladesh interim government chief adviser, Professor Muhammad Yunus, on Wednesday launched health card distribution programme for the victims of the student-led mass uprising that ousted the longest-serving Bangladesh prime minister Sheikh Hasina on August 5, 2024.
The injured victims will get free of cost treatment at any public hospital across the country by showing this health card.
The CA at an event held at State Guest House Jamuna in Dhaka handed over the card to two victims鈥擨fat Hossain, a student of Narshingdi United College and Israt Jahan Emu, a Dhaka University student. Both were injured in July protests.
The distribution of cards will continue in specific districts every week.
Professor Yunus said that it was the state鈥檚 responsibility to ensure healthcare for July victims and the state would do that.
Among others, health adviser Nurunnahar Begum and her special assistant Sayedur Rahman were present.
Meanwhile, the Mass Uprising Special Cell on Wednesday urged the families of deceased and injured individuals in the July-August student-led mass uprising who have not yet been included in the government鈥檚 list to apply by January 31.
The cell, established under the Health Services Division in October, has already published the first draft, listing 858 martyrs and 11,551 injured individuals, available at https://medical-info.dghs.gov.bd/public, said the cell in a press release.
