
The BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology in collaboration with its Career Development Club has organised a two-day National Career Fest
2025 commenced at the university’s permanent campus in Dhaka on Saturday.
The event aimed to bridge the gap between academia and industry, featuring participation from over 100 companies from various universities, colleges, and relevant
sectors, along with over 4,000 job seekers and 20,000 visitors, said a press release.Â
Job seekers had the opportunity to connect directly with top employers and participate in on-the-spot interviews.
The event also included workshops, seminars, and panel discussions.
A Matin Chowdhury, managing director of New Asia Group, attended as chief guest and Sayed Arefin, managing director of ANDIE was present as special guest at the inaugural ceremony, which was presided over by Farooq Hasan, chairman of the BUFT board of trustees.
The welcome address was delivered by BUFT’s acting vice-chancellor, Professor Ayub Nabi Khan.
The closing ceremony is set to feature prominent figures such as Md Anwar Hossain, administrator of BGMEA; Mohammad Hatem, president of BKMEA; Sharif Zahir, chairman of UCB; Mofazzal Hossain Pavel, president of BGBA; and Al Shahriar, president of BGAPMEA, making it a vibrant and engaging conclusion.
The chief guest, in his speech, emphasised the importance of linguistic proficiency, leadership qualities, and the ability to adapt one’s mindset to changing circumstances. He stated, ‘Life cannot be sustained by grades or degrees alone. Due to a lack of proficiency in the English language, we are compelled to follow the leadership of others.’
