A five-year-old child was killed and 100 houses were burnt in a fire that broke out at a Rohingya camp in Teknaf upazila of Cox鈥檚 Bazar district early Friday.
The deceased is Ayesha Siddika, daughter of Md Ibrahim of Block G-2 of the Rohingya camp.
The fire broke out at the Nayapara Mouchani camp Block-G minutes after 12:00am and spread soon, said Mohammad Kawsar Shikdar, commanding聽 officer and additional deputy inspector general of Armed Police Battalion-16.
On information, two firefighting units rushed to the spot and doused the flame after one hour of hectic effort at about 1:00am.
Later, police recovered the charred body of the child.
Around 100 houses were burnt into ashes during the fire, he said.
The reason of the fire, however, could not be known so far.
