Justice Shahed Nuruddin has resigned as a High Court judge while he is under Supreme Judicial Council inquiry for alleged misconduct.

The Supreme Court administration confirmed 抖阴精品 that Justice Nuruddin submitted his resignation letter to the president through the office of the chief justice.


His resignation was later announced in a scroll on the Supreme Court website Thursday afternoon.

Justice Nuruddin is among 12 High Court judges who have been barred from judicial duties since October 21, 2024, following student-led protests against their alleged political bias during the 15-year rule of deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina.

The Supreme Judicial Council is investigating allegations of misconduct against several of the 12 High Court judges.

Earlier on November 19, 2024, three High Court judges鈥擩ustice Salma Masud Chowdhury, Justice Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque and Justice AKM Zahirul Hoque鈥攔esigned after spending five years without judicial duties due to allegations of misconduct.

They had been sidelined during the tenure of the ousted Awami League government.

Justice Shahed Nuruddin began his judicial career as a Munsif on April 20, 1983 and was promoted to district and sessions judge on February 27, 2000. He was elevated to the High Court Division as an additional judge on October 21, 2019, and his appointment was confirmed in October 2021 during the ousted Awami League regime.

He was scheduled to retire on January 31, 2027.
