A mobile court of the Department of Environment聽has fined three industries Tk 20 lakh in Gazaria upazila of the聽district for violating the Environment Act.聽
The industries are Bashundhara Industrial Limited, JMI Industrial Park and聽Anwar Cement Limited of Gazaria upazila.
Mizanur Rahman, deputy director of the DoE, said that from Sunday 4:00pm to 11:00pm,聽the mobile court conducted a drive in Vitikandi and Tetaitala areas of the聽upazila and fined the industries, in default to suffer 15 days in jail each聽as their environmental clearance certificates were not renewed.
The mobile court fined JMI Industrial Park Tk 10 lakh, Bashundhara聽Industrial Limited Tk five lakh and Anwar Cement Limited Tk five lakh.
In addition, a deadline was set for three industries to comply with all聽environmental rules and regulations within the next three months.
The campaign was conducted by Shahidul Islam, special magistrate for Environment and Senior Judicial Magistrate under the Chief Judicial聽Magistrate鈥簊 Court.
Ifti Hasan Imran, special magistrate for environment and senior judicial聽magistrate under the Chief Judicial Magistrate鈥簊 Court, Mizanur Rahman,聽deputy director of the DoE and its senior chemist Md Sanwar Hossain were聽also present during the drive.
