A man reportedly committed suicide by consuming poison allegedly after killing his two children at Chunarughat upazila in Habiganj on Friday morning.
The deceased are Abdur Rouf, 32, son of freedom fighter Abdul Hai of Atikpur village under Ranigaon union at the Chunarughat upazila, his daughters Khadija Akhter, 5, and Ayesha Akhter, 3, police said.
Chunarughat police officer-in-charge Md Nur Alam confirmed the death of Abdur Rouf and his two children to 抖阴精品.
Quoting local people, the OC said that Abdur Rouf was in debts and started selling his assets to repay the loan. The man also used to quarrel with his wife as she did not agree to sell the assets, he said.
The victims鈥� neighbours said that after a recent quarrel over the decision to sell his house, Rouf鈥檚 wife left for her father鈥檚 house.
Rouf then fed poison to his two children in anger on Friday morning and he also consumed poison to kill himself, they said.
The OC told 抖阴精品 that the neighbours took the victims to the local upazila health complex in critical condition but the doctor on duty declared the two children dead.
The police officer said that Rouf was sent to Habiganj Sadar Adhunik Hospital for better treatment and he also died in the morning while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
鈥楾he bodies were handed over to their relatives after completion of post-mortem examinations on Friday evening,鈥� the police officer said on Saturday noon, adding that a case of unnatural death was filed with the police station in this regard.
