
A group of unidentified people on three motorbikes shot and hacked a gold trader and reportedly looted 130-200 bhoris of gold in the capital’s Banasree area on Sunday night.
The police came to know about the incident at 11:00pm on the day at Banasree D Block, and senior officials rushed to the spot, said Rampura police station duty officer sub-inspector Mohammad Mohsin.
A video of the incident, which went viral on social media, shows he was shot and beaten by people wearing helmets on motorbikes.
Md Anwar, owner of Alankar Jewellers, was hacked and shot by miscreants in the Banasree area, said Rampura police station officer-in-charge Ataur Rahman Akondo.
‘We have sent him to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment, as he sustained bullets in his hand and leg. The victim claims 200 bhoris gold were looted, but the employee said 130 bhoris,’ the OC told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ·.
He said that they were investigating the incident and the trader was carrying gold outside his shop.
