The High Court has filed a case against 25 for allegedly forging its November 26, 2024, order to falsely claim permission to continue operations in Khagrachari and Bandarban.

Supreme Court registrar general Aziz Ahmed Bhuiyan on Sunday clarified that no such authorisation was granted.

On instructions from the Supreme Court registrar general, High Court Writ Section superintendent M Shahidul Islam Khan filed the case with the Shahbagh police station on Thursday.

The accused brickfield owners in Khagrachari include Rakib Uddin (Karnophuli Brick, Dighinala), Mohammad Selim (Selim & Brothers, Khagrachhari Sadar), Md Harunur Rashid (RPS Jigjack Brick), Md Mostafa (Rubel Enterprise), Md Abul Kashem (ABM Brick), Hazera Begum (Hazera Brick), Md Raihan (Meghna Brick), Md Saha Alam (Four Star Brick), Nurul Islam Patwari (Nurul Islam Brick), Ashraf Alam (ABC Brick), Abu Bakar Siddique (A77 Brickfield), Rafiqul Islam (Satyata Enterprise), Selu Tong Marma (Tara Brick), Moshiur Rahman Tareq (Four Star Brick), M Shahid Ullah (SBM Brickfield), Sabuj Miah (MDS Sabuj Enterprise), Mohammad Selim (Selim & Brothers), and Mohammad Oli Ullah (UBM Brick).

The other seven owners in Bandarban include M Jamal Uddin (Unique Brick - UBM), M Rafique (RN Brick), Liakat Ali Chowdhury (Petan Sha Brick - PBM), M Obaidul Kabir (Sevan BN Brick), Muktar Ahmed (3BM Brick), M Shah Alam (SAB Brick), and M Moazzel Hoque (EBM Brick).

Another accused M Harunur Rashid from Gola Bari, Khagrachhari was also made an accused as he sworn in affidavit of the writ petition filed by the 25 owners.

According to the superintendent, the accused, in collaboration with Harunur Rashid, filed a writ petition with an affidavit.

On November 26, 2024, the High Court issued a rule directing deputy commissioners of Bandarban and Khagrachari to resolve their applications for business relocation within 60 days.

The accused, however, allegedly tampered with the order, inserting the phrase ‘to continue their production’ to justify ongoing operations.

The forged document was then submitted to the deputy commissioners of Khagrachari and Bandarban to prevent interference with their businesses.

The superintendent added that the falsified order was also sent via WhatsApp to the deputy commissioners.

Upon discovering the forgery, the High Court, on December 11, 2024, instructed the Supreme Court registrar general to file a case after an investigation by the Police Bureau of Investigation.
