
At least 10 people were killed and two others injured as a bus collided head-on with two microbuses on Chattogram-Cox's Bazar highway at Chunty point under Lohagara upazila in Chattogram Wednesday morning.
Identities of the victims could not be known immediately. All the deceased and injured persons were passengers of the microbuses, the police said.
The accident occured at about 7:00am when a Cox's Bazar bound bus of Relax Paribahan collided with two microbuses at Chunty point, said Lohagara police station officer-in-charge Arifur Rahman.
He said that seven people died on the spot and the five injured people were sent to Lohagara Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
One of the injured victims died at the health complex, he said and added that the remaining ones were sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
Dr Sushmita Saha at the emergency department of CMCH said that two victims -- one aged around 10 and the other aged about 35 - died at the hospital while undergoing treatment there.
