A 33-year-old man was lynched by an angry mob Friday evening, hours after he had allegedly stabbed a fish trader to death in the Ranshibazar area under Bagmara upazila in Rajshahi district.

The deceased fish trader is Abdur Razzak, 31, while the lynched man is Aminul Islam, 33. Both Razzak and Aminur are residents of Goalbari village under Atrai upazila in Naogoan.


Bagmara police station officer-in-charge Touhidul Islam said that drug addict Aminul first stabbed Abdur Razzak to snatch the latter鈥檚 money in village Ranshibazar at about 4:30pm on Friday.

Locals then chased Aminul, caught him and gave him a good beating out of anger.

On information, a team of Bagmara police rushed to the spot and rescued Aminul, the OC said.

He said that about 1,500 local people rushed to the bazar, assaulted police personnel, snatched Aminul, and beat him to death there.

The police official said that five police personnel were injured in the attack.
