Home adviser retired Lieutenant General Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Saturday warned of stern action against those police officials who would fail to act against the Awami League holding flash processions and other activities.

The home adviser came up with the warning as he talked to reporters after inspecting Airport, Uttara West and Turag police stations.


He also said that law and order situation was gradually improving and would develop more over time.

Meanwhile, separate teams of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police detective branch arrested six leaders of the Awami League, banned student wing Bangladesh Chhatra League, Bangladesh Awami Swechasebak League and Sramik League from separate spots in the Dhaka city since Friday, said a DMP press release signed by its deputy commissioner for media and public relations Muhammad Talebur Rahman on Saturday.

The arrested are BCL Pallabi Thana Ward 5 organising secretary Ashraful Islam Naim, BCL Jatrabari Thana unit general secretary Md Ripon Hossain, Sramik League Dhaka south city unit Ward 59 vice-president Sheikh Md Sohel, Swechasebak League Badda Thana unit relief and disaster affairs secretary Md Sohel Rana, BCL Badda Thana Ward 37 organising secretary Mohamamd Yamin, and AL Ward 12 vice-president Abul Bashar Khan, according to the release.

The release also said that six were arrested on Friday and Saturday.聽
