
Lawyers, labour leaders and professionals at a views-exchange programme in Dhaka on Wednesday demanded an end to Rana Plaza collapse trial.
Expressing concern over delay in the Rana Plaza killing case, continuing for 12 years, they called for an end to the trial in the case and exemplary punishment for those responsible for the killings, including Masud Rana and others.
They said that those people were responsible for killings of more than 11 hundred workers in the collapse of the garment factories in Rana Plaza near Savar Bus Stand on April 24, 2013.
Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust organised the views-exchange programme at the National Press Club to mark twelve years of Rana Plaza collapse and its trial with its executive director lawyer Sara Hossain in the chair.
Labour leader and executive director of Bangladesh Labour Studies Syed Sultanuddin Ahmed expressed concern over not ending the trial of Rana Plaza collapse killings in past twelve years.
He called on labour workers’ rights bodies to wage movements for the trial immediately and make the issue as a national one.
Sara Hossain called on the interim government to end the trial of Rana Plaza collapse killings as early as possible.
Labour leader Razequzzaman Ratan demaned exemplary punishments for owners of Rana Plaza responsible for the collapse and killing of more than 11 hundred workers.
Labour leader Abul Hossain, garment workers labour leader Taslima Akhter, lawyers Sharmin Sultana, AKM Naser, Masum Billah and others took part in the views-exchange programme.
