The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Tuesday urged all concerned for an immediate formation and declaration of the interim government in a lawful manner to restore law and order and economy.
鈥極n behalf of the business community, the DCCI requests immediate steps to restore law and order in the Dhaka City and across the country,鈥� the trade body said in a statement issued on the day.
The DCCI believes an interim government is a must to restore democratic election process and hand the country back to its people and its elected representatives, it said.
The Dhaka chamber underscored the urgent need for a quick revival of law and order and requested for all necessary actin to restore normal economic activities as soon as possible.
鈥楾he nationwide economic operations have been significantly hampered. In this regard, immediate measures are essential to restore the law and order condition to recover from the significant damage,鈥� the statement reads.
The DCCI said that the recent events had taken a large toll on people鈥檚 lives and economy, disrupting living and economic conditions.
鈥楿nless measures are effective, supply chain disruptions will cause further damage and add to public suffering,鈥� the trade body said.
It is imperative that economic operations resume at the fullest extent for the greater interest of the nation, it said.
The Dhaka chamber called for collective efforts from all stakeholders, including imminent interim government, private sector and political parties to mitigate the impact of recent losses and damages through a rigorous and sustainable economic recovery process.
鈥楤y fostering a stable political environment, we can rebuild our businesses鈥� confidence and activities in home and abroad,鈥� the statement said.
The DCCI affirmed its commitment to work closely with all relevant stakeholders, including the next interim government and others through coordinated endeavours to end the current headwinds for the much-needed prosperity of the country.
