Sheffield United midfielder Hamza Choudhury is set to arrive today to make his much coveted debut for the Bangladesh national football team in their AFC Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers third-round match against India on March 25.

The 27-year-old Hamza, who will be accompanied by his mother, wife and his three kids, will land at the Osmani International Airport in Sylhet at around 11:40am and will stay in his ancestral home in Bahubal, Habiganj, before flying to Dhaka on Tuesday night.

Several Bangladesh Football Federation executive committee members are expected to receive him at the airport. Hamza is expected to join the national team camp on Wednesday.

‘He will come to Dhaka either on the night of the 18th or in the morning of the 19th and will join the camp straightaway,’ BFF vice-president Fahad Karim told the media on Sunday.

Fahad also informed that there will be a team photo session followed by a press conference with the presence of Hamza and national team coach Javier Cabrera.

Then Hamza will join in an on-field practice session or a gym session with the team before the team leaves for India on March 20.

However, the Bangladesh national team, which left for Saudi Arabia on March 5 for a preparation camp for the India game, is scheduled to return home today.
