Makid Haider

Bangla Academy award-winning poet Makid Haider passed away on Wednesday at his residence at Uttara in the Dhaka city.

He was 77.


The poet breathed his last at about 9:00am on Wednesday, Makid Haider鈥檚 cousin Mokhleshur Rahman Badsha said, adding that the poet had been suffering from old age complications for a long time,

Makid Haider is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.

Mokhleshur Rahman said that the body would reach Pabna from Dhaka on the day and would be buried in the Arifpur central graveyard in Pabna on Thursday morning after his namaj-e-janazaat 8:00am.

Poet Makid Haider was born on September 28, 1947, in Doharpara village of Arifpur under the Sadarupazila inPabna.

His books of poetry included Rode Vije BariFera (1976), Apan Andhare Ekadin (1984), Partha O Pratim (2007), Coffin Er Lokti (2011), Je Amake Dukkha Dilo(2012), Priya Rokanali (2013), Mumur Shathe Sara Dupur(2014).

Apart from poetry, Makid has written stories and essays.
