The Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Sunday celebrated the Chand Raat, the night before Eid day, at its Nandan Mancha.

The event which comprised musical performances and a Mehndi corner to celebrate the night enthralled thousands of audience.


The event began with traditional Kawali songs by Ahmed Nur Amiri and his team.

Popular Bangladeshi playback singer Nazmun Munira Nancy performed five popular songs, and Bengal Symphony, a musical band formed and lead by Emon Chowdhury, enthralled the audience.

They performed popular Bangla songs including Dekha Na Dile Katha Koio Na, Paan Khaila Na, and Romjaner Oi Rojar Sheshe Elo Khusir Eid.

Cultural affairs adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki was present at the event as the chief guest.

Cultural affairs secretary Md Mafidur Rahman attended the event as a special guest. BSA acting director general Mohammad Wares Hossain chaired the programme.

At Town Hall Shaheed Park playground in the capital’s Mohammadpur, the Mohammadpur Community Alliance held a programme to mark the evening.

A cultural event to mark the Chand Raat was held at the Narayanganj port area.

The event comprised songs and poetry reciting, participated by Narayanganj-based musical troupes and individual musicians.
