
Photographers and rights activists of the country on Sunday at a solidarity rally with the one-point demand of the students urged people of the country to prevent violence, wholesale arrests, and reform of the state.
‘Alokchitri Samaj’, a platform of photographers, organised the rally at the Swoparjita Swadhinata sculpture on Dhaka University, which followed a procession that ended at the Central Shaheed Minar in the capital.
Photographers and activists, among others, Shahidul Alam, Nasir Ali Mamun, Rahnuma Ahmed, Saiful Huq Omi, Taslima Akhter, Munem Wasif, Amirul Rajiv, Saydia Gulrukh, Bithi Ghosh participated in the procession.
Mentioning that the current situation in the country is like the situation of the then Pakistan-regime in the ‘60s, Nasir Ali Mamun said that the people of the country would not accept it in the independent country.
‘The killings that happened in July will be in trial in “people’s court”,’ he added.
Although the Awami League government is denying, the photographs of this time witness the evidence of the oppression of the government, said Shahidul Alam.
Mentioning that prime minister Sheikh Hasina has even no option to resign from the power although country’s people are demanding her resignation, he said, ‘Now, the people of the country will decide how they will run the country.’
‘The Sheikh Hasina government is a “fascist” government and at the same time, it is a “puppet” government of the neighbouring Indian Narendra Modi,’ Rahnuma Ahmed said and urged the people of the country not to be trapped in any conspiracies.
Demanding the resignation of the AL government, Saiful Huq Omi said that they took to the street because they to protested against the violence on students.
The event also featured poem recitations and songs performances.
