Mutual Trust Bank is expanding and holding strong position in the banking sector due to trust, good governance and prudent risk management, said the bank’s managing director and chief executive officer, Syed Mahbubur Rahman, on Tuesday.

He made the comments at a press conference on the occasion of the bank’s 24th anniversary to be celebrated on October 24.

Over the past 25 years, MTB has gained 13 lakh customers and accumulated deposits amounting to Tk 32,000 crore, he said.

Mahbubur highlighted MTB’s consistent efforts to improve service standards to strive to deliver quality service.

‘Our bank has maintained good governance,’ Mahbubur said.

He noted that only 1 per cent of loans disbursed in the past five years have become non-performing.

He also shared that MTB is working to provide alternative income opportunities for seasonal workers like fishermen, who often remain idle for two to three months each year.

In addition, MTB has recently partnered with a company to offer loans to farmers via a mobile app, he said.
