
Bank Asia PLC has organised the annual ‘AML and CFT Conference 2025’ with the theme ‘AML-CFT: fostering and enduring a culture of compliance’ to enhance anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism knowledge and awareness among all the employees of the bank.
AFM Shahinul Islam, head of the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit, as chief guest highlighted the growing challenges posed by money laundering.
MA Baqui Khalily, chairman of the Risk Management Committee and the Audit Committee of the Bank Asia board of directors was guest of honour of the conference held at Bank Asia Tower at Karwan Bazar in Dhaka on Saturday.
Sohail RK Hussain, managing director, presided over the conference while Ziaul Hasan, deputy managing director, CAMLCO and head of channel banking of Bank Asia and chairman of the Association of Anti Money Laundering Compliance Officers of Banks in Bangladesh was convener of the programme.
Shadril Ahmed, additional director and Sahalam Kazi, joint director of BFIU were present as resource persons and discussed AML-CFT framework, initiatives and recent typologies.
Additional managing directors, deputy managing directors, and other senior management team members attended the event physically and around 2800 officials from divisions, branches, centers and islamic windows, agents of the bank participated in the conference through digital platform.
