
Class 12 student of Mirzapur Cadet College Sharafat Nahian Rahman has won Bronze Award in the Queen鈥檚 Commonwealth Essay Competition 2024.
Sharafat Nahian Rahman, son of Brigadier General Foyezur Rahman, has won multiple awards participating in both academic and extracurricular activities, including sports competitions organised by the cadet college.
Sharafat Nahian Rahman had earlier participated in various international events. He participated as a delegate of Nepal in the committee of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change at Dhaka University National Model United Nations 2023.
He also completed a course titled Machine Learning Using Python in 2022 under the CADD Centre.聽
He is skilled in Python overview, standard library functioning, database connectivity using MySQL, networking-client and server programme, among others.
The Queen鈥檚 Commonwealth Essay Competition is the world鈥檚 oldest international writing competition for schools, which has been proudly delivered by the Royal Commonwealth Society since 1883.
Each year, the theme is drawn from Commonwealth values and principles. It encourages young people to engage with pressing issues of the day, such as the environment, equality, and youth leadership, to foster an open-minded and empathetic worldview.
Under the long-time patronage of Queen Camilla, The Queen鈥檚 Commonwealth Essay Competition has reached over 200,000 young people, involved some 5,000 volunteer judges, and encouraged hundreds of schools to enter just in the past decade.
The winners and their families are rewarded with a week of cultural and literary activities in the UK arranged by the Royal Commonwealth Society.聽
The week culminates with an Award Ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
