The British Council on Tuesday organised Scholars’ Award 2024 distribution ceremony to honour 36 students who achieved excellent results in their May-June 2024 Cambridge International and Pearson Edexcel Qualifications conducted by the British Council for UK Exam Boards.

A press release on Wednesday said the awarded students participated in O Levels or international GCSE exams and achieved exceptional results across a wide range of subjects.


The awarded students would receive sponsorship from the British Council for one subject of their choice in the first sitting of the Advanced Subsidiary exam when they take it with them, the release said.

British Council’s Bangladesh director Stephen Forbes inaugurated the event at a Dhaka hotel.

British Council’s exam director in Bangladesh Maxim Raimann, its regional business development director for English and Exams in South Asia Talal Meer, director of business development Sarwat Reza,  and one of the award winners Fariha Tasnim spoke at the event.

After the award ceremony, renowned young musician Masha Islam delivered an exceptional musical performance.

Pearson Edexcel officials including Abdullah Al Manun Bin Quddus, Jannatul Ferdous Sigma, Shahin Reza, along with 150 school leaders from 189 partner schools were present.
