The two-day long AF Mujibur Rahman - Bangladesh Mathematical Society 3rd National Mathematics Conference 2024, organised by the mathematics department of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, began on BUET campus in Dhaka on Thursday.
The university also held gold medal award giving ceremony on the same day. BUET pro-vice-chancellor professor Abdul Hasib Chowdhury was present as chief guest, said a press release.
BUET science faculty dean professor Al-Naqeeb Chowdhury, Bangladesh Mathematics Association president and Pirojpur University of Science and Technology vice-chancellor professor Md Shahidul Islam and AF Mujibur Rahman Foundation trustee M Nurul Alam were present as special guests.
The programme was presided over by the head of BUET mathematics department professor Najma Parveen.
This year, two MSc students 鈥� Chaiti Biswas and SM Yasir Arafat and two MPhil students 鈥� Hamida Akhtar and Tariqul Islam of mathematics department were awarded gold medals, funded by the AF Mujibur Rahman Foundation.
In the conference, 184 papers, including keynote speech and 10 invited talks, will be presented. The event will end on Friday.
