North South University hosted a delegation from MacEwan University, Canada, for a day-long engagement focused on fostering academic collaboration and exploring future partnerships at the university in Dhaka on Thursday.

The visit marked a significant step in the NSU’s ongoing efforts to enhance international research initiatives and expand student and faculty exchange opportunities, said a press release. 


The delegation from MacEwan University included Erin Wight, director of MacEwan International, and Samuel Mugo, professor and associate development.

They engaged in fruitful discussions with NSU’s academic leadership, including Md Mainul Hossain, associate professor and chairperson of the department of biochemistry and microbiology; Syed Mortuza Asif Ehsan, associate professor and chairperson of the department of economics; and Md Rizwanul Islam, professor of law and dean of the school of humanities and social sciences.

Also in attendance were coordination officer Tasnia Azmeri Madiha and international affairs officer Samina Alam Miti from the Office of External Affairs. 

During the visit, Mugo delivered a presentation on ‘leveraging international partnerships: transdisciplinary research in arts and science at MacEwan University’, which gave students an understanding of the role of global collaborations in advancing academic research.

The discussions between the two universities centered on potential research partnerships, student exchange programs, and educational development strategies, further reinforcing NSU’s commitment to global engagement.
