The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) organised a stakeholders meeting aimed to ensure price stability of essential consumer goods, including clothing, cosmetics, footwear, and other daily-use items, ahead of the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.

Importers, marketers, retailers, and representatives of relevant departments and organisations participated in the meeting held at the DNCRP conference room in the capital on Wednesday.


The participants agreed to implement the decisions, including ensuring the issuance and preservation of valid vouchers or receipts in the purchase and sale of goods at all stages of wholesale and retail.

They also agreed to determine a reasonable price for all goods and to ensure the name of the importer, full address, date of production, expiry date, maximum retail selling price, and other information printed on the packaging of imported goods.

Moreover, they urged the traders to refrain from selling products whose origin is uncertain and ensure the sale of products with government trademarks.

The meeting was presided over by聽Mohammad Alim Akhtar Khan, director general of the DNCRP.

DNCRP director (admin and finance) Abdul Jalil, director (complaints and investigations) Mohammad Azizul Islam, and director (operations and laboratory) Fakir Muhammad Munawar Hossain attended the meeting.

Representatives from the Ministry of Industries, Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission, the Bangladesh Competition Commission, the Directorate of Joint Stock Companies and Firms, BSCIC, the Bangladesh Shop Owners Association, the Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB), representatives from brands like Aarong, Yellow, Shajgoj Ltd, Infinity, Illyeen, Apex, Bikroy.com, and representatives of importers, marketers, retailers and wholesalers of clothing, cosmetics, shoes and other consumer goods were also present.
