A man was killed and 30 others were injured in a clash between two groups of people over a land dispute at Shajadapur Union under Sarail upazila in Brahmanbaria on Saturday.
The deceased is Kamal Uddin, 55, of Shajahadapur village in the upazila.
Sarail police station officer-in-charge Md Imranul Islam said that Kamal Uddin was killed while around 30 other people were also injured during the clash between two groups of villagers.
He also said that no case was filed until Saturday evening over the incident.
Police officials and locals said that UP member Najma Akhter鈥檚 supporter and Kawsar Miah, cousin of deceased Kamal Uddin, had been cultivating paddy for a long time in Khas land adjacent to the bank of Titas river that flows through the village.
But some people, including Mamun, Ripon, and Dulal, who are supporters of local UP chairman Mosammat Asma Akhtar of the village, recently started trying to take possession of that land.
The clash occurred on Saturday afternoon between the two groups over possession of the Khas land, which left 30 people injured on both sides.
The seriously injured Kamal Uddin was rescued and rushed to the Sarail Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
