
Rapid Action Battalion on Saturday arrested the driver of Raida Paribahan bus that rammed a motorcycle near Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, killing a Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh engineer.
The arrested, identified as Hasan Mahmud Himel, 25, was arrested at his residence in Harinathpur area of Hijla upazila in Barishal during a joint drive by RAB-8 and RAB-1 at about 5:00am on Saturday.
RAB-1 second-in-command major Mohammad Masud Haider, in a press briefing, said that after preliminary investigation, they came to know that the driver did not have licence to drive the bus and fitness certificate of the vehicle.
Legal action was on the way against the arrested, added the RAB official.
On Friday, Md Moidul Islam Siddiqui, 36, a senior sub-assistant engineer of the CAAB was killed after a speedy Raida Paribahan bus ran over him near the under-construction project site of the third terminal at HSIA in the capital.
The accident occurred at about 10:00am between the Dhaka Elevated Expressway and the third terminal construction site.
After the accident, Moidul was rushed to Kurmitola general hospital where on-duty doctor declared him dead.
