
A departmental inquiry into allegations of breach of service rules by an associate professor at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases is yet to begin although the deadline for the submission of the report expired on April 2.
The Health Services Division issued a notification on March 10 to initiate the investigation into a departmental proceeding filed against the physician, Fatema Doza, on November 26, 2023.
The notification asked Health Services Division joint secretary Md Monjurul Hafiz, also the investigation officer of the case, to submit the probe report in 15 working days, which concluded on April 2.
Monjurul Hafiz told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· on Wednesday, ‘The investigation is yet to begin as she has been abroad on leave.’ Fatema Doza in likely to return home soon, he said.
According to the case documents, Fatema resigned from the NICVD on February 20, 2012 to join as an assistant professor at the radiology and imaging department of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University.
She, however, rejoined the NICVD radiology and imaging department as an associate professor on June 11, 2013, reportedly concealing her resignation.
According to the proceeding, Fatema Doza also concealed the information of her arrest on May 2, 2004 and subsequent detention in jail for four months in case filed on the charge of torture of a domestic help.
The departmental proceeding was drawn following a probe report submitted by three-member committee of the Directorate General of Health Services on May 5, 2023.
The probe report stated that the allegations were found to be true in the preliminary investigation.
Fatema Doza could not be reached over phone for comment. She also made no response to texts that was WhatsApped her by this correspondent.
