Twelve fishermen who were abducted while fishing in the Naf River at Ukhia in Cox鈥檚 Bazar returned home after being released on Thursday evening.

Gafur Uddin Chowdhury, chairman of Palongkhali union parishad at Ukhia, said that the fishermen reached their homes.


The fishermen are Jane Alam, Abdur Rahim, Anwarul Islam, Saiful Islam, Ayubul Islam and Shaheen of the Rahmater Bil area, Abdur Rahim of Gaujghona area, Osman Gani, Md Osman and Abul Hashim of Putibania area at Ukhia, and Abdul Jalil and Hossain Ahmed of Whykong union of Teknaf.

On Wednesday morning, members of the Arakan Army, a rebel group in Myanmar, reportedly abducted the 12 Bangladeshi fishermen while they were fishing in the Naf River in the Rahmater Bil area of Palongkhali union of Ukhia in Cox鈥檚 Bazar.
