
At least three people were injured in a clash between two factions of the ruling Awami League over the upcoming upazila parishad election at Gaurnadi in Barishal on Thursday night.
The clash took place in Batajor bus stand area of the upazila between the followers of Gaurnadi upazila AL general secretary and upazila chairman candidate Harishur Rahman Harish and upazila parishad chairman Syeda Monirun Nahar Meri.
The injured are Harishur鈥檚 follower, Delwar Hossain Dilu, who received the bullet injury, Meri鈥檚 follower upazila AL joint secretary Soikat Guho Piklu, and his associate Palash Howlader.
Dilu was admitted to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, while Piklu and Palash were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Friday.
Meri blamed Harishur for the incident, but Harishur denied the allegation.
Anwar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Gaurnadi police station, said two cases were lodged over the incident on Friday.
Afroza Begum Munni, wife of injured Delwar Hossain Dilu, filed a case, while Taposi Rani, mother of injured Soikat Guha Piklu, lodged another case, he said.
