A body of a 75-year-old woman was recovered from footpath in Kamalapur area of Motijheel in the capital on Tuesday.
The deceased could not be known immediately.
Motijheel police station sub-inspector Goutam said that the woman was lying on the footpath without any movement for a long time.
鈥楾he police recovered the body from the spot about 3:00pm and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy,鈥� he said.
The people told police that the woman slept and ate on that footpath for a very long time, he added, mentioning, 鈥楬er identity could not be ascertained yet but efforts are on to find out her identity.鈥�
It was initially believed that she might have died due to illness, added the police official.
