An activist of Juba League, the youth wing of the ruling Awami League, was sent to jail through a court order on Wednesday under the Cyber Security Act for posting a satirical image of prime minister Sheikh Hasina on his Facebook account.

The police arrested Haider Ali Sipai in the Bakerganj port area in Barishal on Tuesday afternoon and produced him before the court on Wednesday.


Bakerganj police station officer-in-charge Afzal Hossain said that Haider Ali Sipai posted a satirical image of prime minister Sheikh Hasina and also made derogatory comments on the image.

Syed Sarwar filed a case under the Cyber Security Act with the Bakerganj police station and the police arrested him, the OC added.

Haider Ali Sipai was seen attending various rallies and processions of Juba League, local people said.
