The road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader on Sunday urged the two mayors of Dhaka city to take action against the rundown buses in the capital.

'Buses look fine in the roads of cities of small African countries,' he said, adding, 'in Dhaka, people use cars of latest models but why the faces of buses are very poor in Dhaka city?'

He urged the mayors to look after the matter.

The minister also said that imposing 15 per cent VAT on metro rail tickets was not right.

The minister said these at a branding seminar on Dhaka metro rail held at the Hotel Intercontinental in the capital.

Dhaja North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam was also present.
