The vice-chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University, Rear Admiral Mohammad Musa, visited Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology and Yokohama City University in Japan recently, said a press release.

He was accompanied by the head of marine biotechnology department, BSMRMU, Professor Mohammad Nazir Hossain.


The BSMRMU vice-chancellor visited head office of JAMSTEC on Tuesday.

He had talks with the director of JAMSTEC, Tetsuya Miwa, about the possibilities of undertaking joint international exchange and research collaboration between the BSMRMU and JAMSTEC.

Later the director of JAMSTEC showed various research facilities, including their oceanographic research vessel Kaimei.

The BSMRMU vice-chancellor also met the president of Yokohama City University, Professor Yoshihiro Ishikawa, and had bilateral discussions with him regarding the joint research and academic collaborative programmes, exchange of faculties and students between the BSMRMU and the YCU. The BSMRMU vice-chancellor briefed the YCU president about the BSMRMU and its future development and collaboration opportunities with universities in Japan.

The BSMRMU vice-chancellor also visited various research and education facilities of the YCU.
