
A couple was sent to jail on charges of poisoning their two-year-old daughter with disabilities to death in Moulvibazar’s Srimangal on Friday.
Earlier on Thursday night, the police arrested the couple in a raid at South Chatul village of Srimangal in Moulvibazar.
The arrested is Rashed Mia and his wife Shapla Begum.
According to police sources, two-year-old child Faria Jannat Milli was born with physical disabilities.
Srimangal police inspector Aminul Islam said that her parents became impatient while looking after her.
‘She could not even move at all. On May 17, the couple poisoned her,’ he said.
Faria died on her way to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital.
The couple fled after the incident, he added.
The next day, Faria’s maternal grandfather, Wasir Mia filed a case with the Srimangal police station against the two.
Police inspector of Srimangal police station Aminul Islam said that during preliminary interrogation, the arrested confessed to killing their child with physical disabilities by poisoning her.
