
The Rapid Action Battalion on Sunday arrested a fake police officer with a uniform, jacket, walkie-talkie and a pistol at a house at Nandapara Dakshinpara in the Dakshinkhan area of the capital.
The accused is Mahmudul Hasan Munna, 45, son of Hafiz Ullah, a resident of Fatullah in Narayanganj.Â
RAB-1 CPC-3 company commander Major Abir Hossain told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that Mahmudul used to wear a badge of a sub-inspector and also introduce himself as a journalist working at Cable News Network.
‘We arrested him at a house on information. The process of handing over him to the Dakshinkhan police station was underway,’ the RAB official said.
RAB-1 assistant director Mahfuzur Rahman said that Munna and some of his associates were involved in various criminal activities, including snatching and robbery.
‘We seized police uniform and other tools that he used in various criminal activities,’ he added.
The items that the RAB seized included two sets of walkie-talkie, one toy pistol, two police batons, a black knife, 16 smart and button phones, a black rubber hammer, one motorcycle, a pair of handcuffs, two sets of police dress and two black half-sleeved jackets.
Earlier, two cases were filed against him with the Ramna police.
The RAB official also informed that two drug cases were filed with Dakshinkhan police station against him.
