The explosion took place at about 6:45am at the ground floor of a three-storey building.
Identities of the victims have not yet been confirmed.
Two units from Baridhara Fire Station responded promptly to the incident and put out the fire.
Talha bin Jashim, station officer of the FSCD Headquarters Media Cell, said that the exact cause of the explosion would be known after investigation.
Preliminary suspicions suggest that a gas cylinder leakage may have caused the blast.
