The Bangladesh Class-III Govt Employees Association on Friday called for implementation of their six-point demand, including a 30 per cent hike in salary.
They demanded the hike for an interim period until the new national pay scale was announced for them.
They came up with the demands at a human chain arranged in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka.
Hundreds of employees working in various government offices participated in the human chain, said a press release.
President of the association, Lutfur Rahman, announced that if their demands were not met, a grand rally would be organised with all the agitating organisations after Eid, and a march would be held towards the Prime Minister鈥檚 Office.
Leaders of the organisation said that the low-paid government employees had been suffering to make a living due to hikes in prices of gas, electricity, water and treatment cost along with the unbridled the price hike of essentials since the previous eighth national pay scale introduced in 2015.
They demanded that the 5 per cent special benefits should be increased to 30 per cent during the interim period.
They also demanded the immediate announcement of the ninth national pay scale for them.
Other demands of the association include a 100 per cent housing allowance of their basic salary, increase in medical, travel, tiffin, educational allowances, introduction of a permanent rationing system for employees, introduction of a 100 per cent pension system as before, and restoration of time scales and selection grades.
They also demanded formulation of a uniform recruitment policy for all employees working at the secretariat and other places.
