
The police have recovered the body of an expatriate Bangladeshi living in Japan from a rented apartment at Block-C of Basundhara Residential Area in the capital.
The deceased is Ariful Islam, 30, a resident of the sadar upazila in Narsingdi.
Confirming the matter, Vatara police station sub-inspector Monir Hossain said that they had recovered the body at about 8:30pm on Thursday.
‘We have found injury marks in his body. We primarily believe it to be a murder,’ the SI added.
Monir said that they had handed over the body to the deceased family on Sunday afternoon after conducting autopsy at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital.
‘We could tell more after receiving the autopsy report,’ he added.
The victim family filed a murder case with the Vatara police station on Saturday in this regard accusing wife of the deceased, Parvin Akter, aged about 28.
According to the police, the couple had rented the flat on May 17 and was staying there.
The police said that both the husband and wife were from Narsingdi.
