The Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research chairman, Professor Md Aftab Ali Shaikh, urged people from all walks of life to plant trees to build a healthy world for the new generation on Wednesday.

He made the remark at a programme organised by the BCSIR marking World Environment Day and Tree Planting Campaign-2024 at the organisation’s campus in Dhanmondi, Dhaka.


The BCSIR chairman, who was present as chief guest, inaugurated the tree planting campaign by planting a fruit tree sapling.

He also addressed the scientists, officers and employees of the BCSIR at the programme.

He said, ‘There was no alternative to planting trees for creating a healthy and green world for the new generation.’

Under the supervision of the Principal Scientific Officer of the BCSIR

Dhaka Laboratory, Ahsan Habib, about fifty fruit and forest tree saplings were planted at the venue as part of the programme.

The BCSIR members, administration and development, scientists, officers and employees from different laboratories participated in the event.
